Adam L. Clashin
FARMINGTON — A Celebration of Life for Adam Larry
Adam Larry Clashin, May 14, 1988 – Aug. 27, 2024
Clashin, 36, will be held Wednesday, Sept. 18, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Hills Church (5101 N. Dustin Ave.) in Farmington.
Adam was born May 14, 1988, to Larry and Delphine Clashin of Shiprock, into the Tłízídachíí (Red Goat Clan), born for Naaneesht’ézhí Táchii’nii (Charcoal Streaked Division of the Red Running Into the Water Clan). He passed away unexpectedly and entered the loving arms of our Lord on Aug. 27, 2024.
Adam was the youngest of four siblings and had a deep love for the outdoors and cherished finding a good fishing spot. A sports enthusiast, he especially looked forward to baseball season.
Known for his infectious laugh, Adam enjoyed family gatherings, which often included playful teasing from his sisters, brothers and nieces. He had a passion for cooking and was the family’s grill master for many Sunday dinners.
Adam had so much more to give and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Adam is survived by his daughter, Acacia Bizardie of Shiprock; partner, Tanya Taliman of Shiprock; mother, Delphine Clashin of Shiprock; sisters, Danielle Todacheene of Waterflow, New Mexico, Teresita Clashin of Farmington, and Candice Clashin of Shiprock; and grandmother, Rosalie A. Yazzie of Shiprock.
Adam is preceded in death by his father, Larry L. Clashin; and brother-in-law, Dana Buck.
Nancy K. Benally
CROWNPOINT — Funeral services for Nancy K. Benally, 74, of Tseiiahi, New Mexico, will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at 10 a.m., at the Lighthouse Church in Crownpoint, with Evangelist Mike Lee officiating. Burial will follow in Crownpoint.
Nancy was born Jan. 26, 1950, in Crownpoint, into the ‘Áshįįhí (Salt People Clan), born for Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People Clan). She passed away Sept. 7, 2024, in Albuquerque.
Nancy attended Tseiiahi Community School, Wingate High School and Santa Fe Nursing School (St. Vincent’s). She was employed with Crownpoint Indian Health Service.
Nancy enjoyed sewing, crocheting quilts, nature walks, tending to her livestock, reading her Bible, and spending time with her family and church family.
Nancy is survived by her son, Alex Benally; daughter, Nelda Benally; brothers, Angeles Kalleco, Daniel Kalleco and Rex Kalleco; sisters, Velvet Kalleco and Helena James; and grandchild, Malik Benally.
Nancy is preceded in death by her husband, Al J. Benally; parents, Don and June A. Kalleco; brothers, Lorenzo Calico and Ricky James; and sister, June D. Kalleco.
Pallbearers will be Alex Benally, Doyle Kalleco, Chavo Chischilly, Wyatt Chischilly, Waylon Chischilly, and Owen Garcia.
Honorary pallbearers will be Malik Benally, Daniel Kalleco, Angeles Kalleco, Rex Kalleco, Omar Kalleco, and Daric Kalleco.
A reception will take place at the St. Parrish Hall in Crownpoint following services.

Nancy Nez
QUERINO, Ariz. — Funeral services for Nancy Nez, 67, of Querino, Arizona, will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at 10 a.m. (DST) at the Good News Church in Querino, with Eugene Chee officiating. Burial will follow at the Houck community cemetery.
Nancy was born Jan. 15, 1957, in Querino, into the Tó’áhaní (Near the Water Clan), born for Deeshchii’nii (Start of the Red Streak People Clan). She passed away Sept. 3, 2024, in Albuquerque. She was a homemaker.
Nancy is survived by her husband, Basil Gordon; sons, Lamar Sam and Garrison George; daughters, Marcy Sam and Colleen George; mother, Vernie Nez; sisters, Marjorie Nez, Delores Nez, Rita Gurley, Genevieve Goatson, and Clara Vasquez; and nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Nancy is preceded in death by her father, Hoskie Nez; son, Cory Lee Sam; brothers, Leonard Nez and Leon Nez; and sisters, Christine Nez, Linda James and Patricia Cly.
Honorary pallbearers will be Lamar Sam, Garrison George, Jacob Yazzie, Matthew Yazzie, Jace Nez, Cameron Martinez, Derrick Nez, Brandon James, Aaron Murphy, Christopher Cly, and Jeremiah Nez.
A reception will take place at the Houck Chapter House following services.

Bernadette Toledo
TORREON, N.M. — Funeral services for Bernadette Toledo, 40, of Torreon, New Mexico, will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, at the Torreon Navajo Mission Church at 11 a.m. Burial will follow at the Torreon Navajo Mission Cemetery.
Bernadette was born Nov. 9, 1983, to Bennie Toledo and the late Dorothy Toledo. She was born into the Bit’ahnii (Under His Cover Clan), born for Tódích’íi’nii (Bitter Water Clan). Her maternal clan was Táchii’nii (Red Running Into the Water People) and paternal clan was Ta’neeszahnii (Tangle). She passed away Sept. 1, 2024.
Bernadette graduated from Wingate High School and enlisted in the Army. She was a proud veteran and served as sergeant for almost 15 years.
Bernadette separated from the service in 2015 and participated in the Kosova Campaign and earned a Bronze Service Star, NATO Metal, Army Commendation Metal, and three Army Achievement Medals, Korea Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal, and Armed Forces Reserve Medal with “M” device, Army Service and Overseas Service ribbons, and a Good Conduct Medal.
Leaving a legacy through her children, Bernadette is survived by Isiah Toledo, Autumn Trancosa and Kevin Trancosa; and her father, Bennie Toledo.
Bernadette is preceded in death by her mother, Dorothy M. Toledo; sister, Diana Toledo; and brother, Fidel Toledo.
A reception will take place at the Torreon/Star Lake Chapter House following services.
Tommy Pine
CHURCH ROCK, N.M. — Graveside service for Tommy Pine, 85, of Church Rock, New Mexico, will be held Friday, Sept. 13, at 10:30 a.m., at the family plot in Church Rock.
Tommy was born Sept. 23, 1938, in Rehoboth, New Mexico, into the Kinyaa’áanii (Towering House Clan), born for Hashtł’ishnii (Mud Clan). He passed away Sept. 8, 2024, in Farmington.
Tommy worked and retired from Navajo Housing Authority.
Tommy is survived by his wife, Dolly Pine.
Tommy is preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, two sisters, and daughter.
A reception will take place at the Church Rock Chapter House following services.

Randolph D. Begay
HOLBROOK, Ariz. — Funeral services for Randolph Dan Begay, 56, of Indian Wells, Arizona, were held Sept. 9 at the Pentecostal Church in Holbrook, Arizona, with Alfred Clark officiating. Interment followed in Holbrook.
Randolph was born March 11, 1968, in Denver, into the Bįįh bitoodnii (Deer Spring Clan), born for Mą’ii deeshgiizhinii (Coyote Pass Clan). He passed away Aug. 18, 2024, in Indian Wells.
Randolph worked as an artist, handyman, laborer, and tattoo artist. He enjoyed being an artist in pencil, ink, and paints, as well as a tattoo artist. He loved his mother who he took care of and his dog Black.
Randolph is survived by his mother, Elta Ann Begay; brothers, Raynard Dee Begay and Reginald Dee Begay; sister, Clara Ann Begay; and five grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.
Randolph is preceded in death by his father, Raymond Dee Begay; and nieces, Saundrea A. Begay and Nicole R. Mosely.
Pallbearers were Marcus N. Begay, Christopher A. Tishie, Jeffrey Paul, Jason Paul, Tom Yazzie III, Alton John, and JR John.
Honorary pallbearers were Raynard Dee Begay, Reginald Dee Begay, Tom Yazzie Sr., Melvin Begay, Calvin Begay, and James Stroud.Silver Creek Mortuary oversaw arrangements.
